Robert Southey is one of the so-called Lake Poets, so called because they lived and worked in the Lake District..Fellow Lake Poets William Wordsworth and Samuel Taylor Coleridge enjoy more fame yet Southey is still read in Britain today. On one of his travels through the Netherlands, Southey befriended Bilderdijk. Both shared an enormous passion for books. Southey was appointed Poet Laureate in 1813, an honorary position which he kept until his death in 1843.
The bust of Southey is also available in a patinated finish.
