John Keats, a contemporary of Lord Byron, was a Romantic poet. His work was not well-received during his life. However, Keats’ reputation grew after his premature death. Today, both his letters and poems are extremely popular and they form the subject of many literary analyses.

The life mask is a copy of the one found in the National Portrait Gallery in London. The mask was made in 1816 by Benjamin Haydon. Keats’ sister Fanny said that the mask was perfect copy of the features of [her] dear brother.
