After Bilderdijk’s death, casts were made of both his face and hands. The casts were made by Antonio Boggia. Bilderdijk’s right hand was his writing hand. The following quote is revealing in this respect: Cor sapientis in dexterea ejus (the heart of a wise man is in his right hand).

The cast is a copy of the cast that can be found in the Bilderdijk museum in Amsterdam. A certificate signed by dr. M. van Hattem (curator at the Bilderdijk Museum) is provided to ensure the authenticity of the cast.
